New Zealand Massacre

I lost the beginning of this post which I had just started a little while ago. It disappeared in cyber space.

Here is a letter that was printed in our local paper.

New Zealand Massacre 001

What crimes and tragedies we commit in the name of white color. No? Every thing I think of it, my knees buckle in shame and sorrow.

Be well and be happy.

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

The reverberations continue – as they should. Complacency is a terrible state. We need to keep all the people touched by violence in our prayers. Great article!

  2. What happened at the Christchurch mosque is really, really disgusting. The poor victims and their families. I can’t imagine how much this will negatively affect the younger generation of people who identify and are growing up as Muslim. I hope this will encourage people to be stronger and more kinder to one another – like what you said in your article. Nice piece, Zakiah.

  3. Where do we go, Zakiah . Terrorists kill people worldwide. I am frightened by those murders in the mosques of New Zeeland. I tell you my compassion/
    Love ❤

  4. It saddens me that our world is still full of hate. I mourn for the victims. People shouldn’t be afraid of practicing their religion / faith. I hope your letter will help open people’s hearts and minds.

  5. Such a tragedy, so very sad. 😦 My prayers have been for the family and friends of the victims. It is, also, my prayer that your letter will be read by MANY people! Your words have the ability to change hearts and minds toward concern, love, respect, unity and kindness.

This is a beautiful eulogy. You have painted a beautifully colored quilt to wrap their dead bodies in.

  7. Such a horrific tragedy. I have a friend who lives in New Zealand..Her child’s school was on lock down b/c of this. Praying for those affected.
