My restless mind
Invokes my Muse!
Lifeless lines
Acquiring a tongue
Nonspecific dots
Glowing in their blush.
Love gets tinged, and
Scenes of life erupt
As I turn the heart of darkness
Into a feast of lights!

This Muse,
Startles sleepy centuries
Sings about
Grandeur of earth!
Every age and generation
My Muse speaks to me
Tells me
I am the fate of earth and age
I am the child of times!!©

Cherry blossoms in the garden.

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

Beautiful words to accompany the photos! Spring has come to your house… We are bracing for flurries tomorrow (if the weather man is right).

We are supposed to have a couple of inches of snow AND deep freeze. What the heck! The trees look so grand, and I am praying that we don’t have the freeze or the snow. A few flurries won’t be too bad, though still not necessary.

  2. On my! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

Beautiful words and lovely pink. Cherry blossom flowers are great subject to shoot 😊

    • Zakiah says:

They are Rupali. I love it when they bloom. Last night we got a lot of snow. All the blooms look so forlorn and seem to question, “WHY?” What can i say. I hope they will survive. Love.

  6. Lovely cherry tree – I wish their blossoms weren’t so fragile. Don’t you wish your muse would show up earlier in the night? They keep such strange hours. Have a great week!

    • Zakiah says:

They are very fragile, no? But my God, they are so sensuous in their softness and beauty. But like I posted in my reply above, we got almost two inches of snow last night, and it was still snowing this morning till almost noon. FFFFTTT. Hope the blooms will survive.
