My New Decade

Posted on January 13, 2021 by Zakiah

Yup, I started a new decade on the 11thof this month. Never thought I would live to be this old! What a journey this has been. Children, travels, grandchildren, gardens, blogs with beautiful friends, books that were published, health issues, and a home that is humble and welcoming to one and all.

Sayeed and Saadia had originally planned for a big to do, invite a lot of my dear friends and close relatives, but as the disturbing viral pandemic took deeper and deeper roots in the fabric of our lives, the idea was given a rest. So they had a fabulous dinner arranged for me in his home. He has a neighbor who is a fourth generation French Pastry baker. She made a whole tray of amazing and incredibly mouth-melting desserts, good enough to set before royalty. I love macaroons, and there is a restaurant here that makes the best macaroons. But this lady outdid that. They were not big, but once i put them in the mouth, it just melted away, leaving a delicious aroma and taste in my mouth. Yummm.

The dessert table after the dinner dishes were cleared.
This plate of dessert was all for me. Don’t think I didn’t eat it! I inhaled it. Can you see the 80th written out on the mound of custard with a hard crusted base? So cool no? And the powdered sugar design on the plate? So pretty.
Received three beautiful arrangement of flowers.

Loved every moment of that day and evening. So blessed that my children live so close by, and do so much for me. Hope this year will be a blessed year for all of us.
