About Zakiah
I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading.
That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5.
I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years.
Hope to see you on my blog.
What we see outside and on the table let us guess a good start of the new year.
I wish the best for you and yours, Zakiah
Love β€
Michel
Dear Michel,
Thank you so much for your kind wishes. We are all so happy that 2020 is gone now. I pray that this year will be a happy one for each and every one of us all over the world. Good health and a continued blessed life for you and Janine.
Love,
Zakiah.
Happy New Year to you! The photos are simply beautiful and the food looks delicious π
Thank you Hannah. I so love that you have come here and have looked at my blog. Thank you. I enjoyed reading your posts and loved the art.
Youβre most welcome! Thank you for having a read of my blog as well π
The ice on the trees look beautiful but also dangerous. Your annual New Year’s brunch looks so delicious. I hope you have a healthy and happy 2021!
I wish you the same Mattie. Got your beautiful card. The postal system is trying to move like the pony express. I am sure you haven’t received my card as yet. Yours took only 12 days to reach me! YAY! Incredible , no? pfffttt!
Matt I hope you can come and be with us on one of these celebrations. Would love that so much. Happy, happy and prosperous 2021 to you dear heart.
I should have sent the card a lot earlier. I didn’t think things would be that slow. I haven’t received your card yet (not your fault). Let’s hope we all stay health this year.
Matt, I hope to God you get that card. Period. I painted it for you. the night before i sent it out. π¦
What a wonderful tradition, Zakiah! So warm and happy — but I don’t think I’ve ever seen icicles on tree branches! Have a very happy New Year!
Thank you Janet. Hope you had a grand birthday. I have been thinking of you.
The icicles hang all over like fringes on a tapestry. SO pretty. I went into the back yard to leave some bird seed on the table and the deck railings for the cardinals and robins.
I hope the New Year will be a very happy one for all of us.
I love the ice on the trees – coating every twig especially when the sun is shining and everything sparkles! We have rain and soon the temps will drop making it dangerous to drive. I’m not going anywhere but son#1 has to work and will be driving when the ice starts to form…. I love the table spread with all the good things! I wish for you and the whole family a new year filled with love and laughter and light, peace, and joy!!
It is beautiful Val. Today the snow came and shrouded the ice, and it was a magical show, of fringes all over everything .
Hope your son didn’t have to drive too far in the ice. Heard that you all were going to get it tomorrow, or perhaps you got it already?
Thank you for your wishes. I pray the same for you and your family. My love to mom.
Looks like a wonderful way to start the year. Happy New Year.
Every year, on the first day, I do this. The children love it. I hope they will continue to do this long after i am gone.
It would be a wonderful tradition to leave behind.
Fire inside, and good food, family, and winter outside. Perfect.
Best of wishes to you and yours.
It’s the company…. the family, i get together with. The children, grandchildren and their laughter. My soul is satisfied.
Oh, how wonderful, SweetZ!!! It may be winter and cold outside, but you had the warmth of family…love and laughter…inside!
The icicle tree and the icicles decorating the house are so beautiful! π
The food-feast looks so delicious! And, OH MY!, on the dessert station! π π
Happy New Year to you and your precious family!
HUGS!!! π
Wow, what a lovely way to spend the day. Love it.
Love and hugs.
Happy 2021 to you and your family too. I’m wishing this year to be a kinder year to us all. May health and happiness filled your home for the entire year.
