DISGUST, A Recollect!

Remember my post in the month of November when I ranted and raved about the company which is famous for gourmet foods? I had sent a package of food through the Mackenzie/Chesapeake Bay company to a friend who lives in California. Due to the inefficiency and arrogance or what have you of the employees the order was not delivered, and finally after sending the managers emails I had finally received a mail from them and was told that the package would be delivered on Saturday, two days after thanksgiving. And I was told that because of the nuisance and inconvenience I suffered, I would be given a 20% discount on my next purchase. This same scenario had occurred in 2018, when I sent a cake to the same friend for his birthday, which never reached him.

Remember that??

Well guess what? On Thursday, I received a letter of apology from the President and CEO of the company. She was apologetic for what I went through, and assured me that it was not an intentional mishap.
Because she was courteous enough to apologize, I thanked her for the hand written letter, and told her I was sure it was not intentional, but I informed her that it was most certainly inefficient of the employees and the company to let a food package be in the warehouse for two weeks, while I was calling every day to check on it!

Anyway, along with the letter, she sent this vacuum sealed gingerbread sleigh filled with cookies. Very pretty.

So, am I going to order stuff from them again? Like the saying goes, “You hurt me once, you are a fool, you hurt me twice, I am the fool” and I say, you hurt me thrice, I will be the stupid woman who has no shame. ( but there is not going to be thrice anyway!)

    That is a very nice consolation gift — but not what you ordered! I hope the cookies at least taste good with your holiday dinners!

    Looks cute but that is hardly the gift you ordered for your friend… I think 2 chances is more than fair. Surely there are other companies that take more care in their shipping divisions!

    That is pretty. I am in running into the second thing I have ordered since November that has been printed a shipping label but according to USPS they never have received. Both were work items.

  7. I ordered 12 meals from a company last week and only received 6 meals. They said they would deliver the rest by Wednesday. I stayed up all night waiting for them and nothing. Now they’ve given me a refund and 25% off the next order. Maybe I will give them one more chance… Probably not a third though if this time doesn’t go right. That’s what your story reminds me of…

  8. While that was very nice, it in no way makes up for the um..mishap. I wouldn’t order from them again if I were either.

  9. ‘Tis adorable, but doesn’t make up for their ineptness and shoddy business practices.
    Businesses need to learn, to grow, do better, to please customers…or they won’t be in business much longer.
    I think you giving them 2 chances was kind and fair of you.
    I get so frustrated in businesses whose (? right word) only solution is a discount on the next order or something small for free on the next order. Why would I want to order anything again if I’ve been treated badly the first time?!?! Like having horrible treatment, or ucky food, in a restaurant and they say “Here’s a coupon for a free dessert next time you dine with us.”
    Yeah, right. 😉

    No, I wouldn’t use a company again that had made that sort of error, despite the goodwill gift. I’ve had that happen to me, too, and made the same choice as you.
