Two years ago today.

So much snow. Today it was about 40 degrees! Ha!

This picture was taken from a window at the hospital.
And this was taken from the window at home.

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

We are hoping for snow to end our drought.

My goodness — it seems like longer than 2 years! And yet, it seems like yesterday! It’s getting up to 75 here for the next week, but it’s a chilly 75, and quite cool at night!

    • Zakiah says:

Did you have a good time in SB ? Have missed you. It is 26 degrees here, and we have had some snows here this month and also towards the end of October.

      • slmret says:

It was a short trip, but we got a lot done. Lots of paperwork, a short walk, Thanksgiving dinner with daughter and grand daughter, 91 y/o birthday, my family is isolating, so didn’t see them. It was in the low 70’s, and sunny. And the traffic was heavy, but moved all the way in both directions! Will post some photos soon.

    • Zakiah says:

Dry, eh? Hope you get some snow. And when you do, please keep it there. We’ve already had snows and rains since October.

    • Zakiah says:

December first was the 92nd birthday of my friend in Palm Desert. Sent him a cake and some food items through Mackenzie. Heard it was a good day. 🙂

  3. That’s some serious snow. We’re getting some tomorrow but I think it’s mostly wet snow.

    Hospital? Everything ok?

    • Zakiah says:

Yes darling Matt, everything is okay. This was two years ago, when I used to go every day for radiation therapy. That used to be a chore!

    • Zakiah says:

You know Matt, last night i was on Google searching for some quotes, and i saw on the page, NOCTURNAL TWINS. I loved it. I read the whole article that this lady had written about you. I am so proud of you that you are so special to each and every one. Love and hugs.

      • Oh my… yes, she surprised me. I was reading it and didn’t realize it was about me until she mentioned my name. The lady is Eden Baylee and she’s a writer also in Toronto.

    • Zakiah says:

Eden Bailee did a great job of introducing you. I loved it.

We are expecting some flurries today. They are predicting that it won’t stick – which is just fine in my opinion!

  5. Val says:

I’d rather have warmth than snow, but no extremes of temperature agree with my body and at least snow is pretty to look at (for the first day or two).

    • Zakiah says:

I agree. Snow is very pretty to look at. But after it gets to staying around like an unwanted guest, i would like to get rid of it. I am like you. Heavy humid hot summers are not very welcome either.

  6. Beautiful snow photos! And so glad the radiation therapy is two years behind you!
The view outside a hospital window is not always lovely….so glad you had lovely view…I love how snow “frosts” the trees like cake icing! 🙂
    (((HUGS))) 🙂

    • Zakiah says:

      yeaaah! Me too.
I have a photo of a yard in town where there were conical bushes, and there was snow on top of them. I had to pull over and take a photo. Love it.

  7. Without any doubt snow is there Zakiah ! 🙂
This is good for the sight but not for the body nor for the driving , and not either for the heating in the house! 🙂
The winter is in hurry to install itself!
    Take care of you, Zakiah.
    Personally I am prudent.
    Love ❤
    Michel

  8. Beautiful..I’d love some snow.
