This Feeling

Why do I feel your nearness
when you are thousands of miles away from me?

I feel you amidst a crowd of people
and I search for your face
my eyes travel along the faces of strangers
and return to a soft sob of my heart
seeking comfort.

And the feeling of your nearness
it never leaves me. Like a sixth sense
you engulf me.
That’s all!

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

    It’s beautiful, Zakiah!

There is a sob in the rhythm of this poem – it is palpable and sad. Of course it is so real that love has no concept of distance or time for that matter…

    Beautiful. Have a great week

  4. Love abolishes space and time. Very nice poem, Zakiah.

  5. I think this is a wonderful feeling…even with its sadness. To not have this feeling of love, nearness, longing and remembrance would be much sadder.
    Beautiful poem, SweetZ!

The Word Press was giving me menstrual cramps! (I don’t have a uterus!:) ) My nephew is here and he has tried to educate me about how I can get out of that problem, (the WP), not the menstrual cramps!! Heh!
I am well darling. Thanks for asking and being to think of me.

      • I just put up a post about 2 friends who are trying to help people with WP problems. 🙂
        They helped me. 🙂

Yikes and HA! I’m so glad you are NOT having actual menstrual cramps! 🙂

  8. How are you, Zakiah?

  9. Zakiah says:

    Dear Michel,
Thank you for asking. I have been well. Somewhat under the weather with a back ache, but I am grateful to God that I am able to do all the chores at home. My nephew is here from Colorado in his Motor Home, which is like a little palace on wheels. He comes over for lunch and dinner, and since he is alone and craves Indian food, I cook that for him. Enjoying his company.
I was unable to post on WP because of some glitch with the different blocks and lines running through my photos. Now my nephew has shown me what i should do, so hopefully I will be able to post some things on WP again.
    Love.,
    Zakiah.
