Andrew’s Birthday & other things

Today we celebrated Andrew’s Birthday. His birthday was on the 28th of April, but that was such a bad day, with major thunderstorms and the weather was cold. So son Sayeed decided he will have it today instead, on his drive way. We went there around five and he had chairs on the drive way, a fire going in a big open vessel, barbecue with steaks and chicken , buttered corn, mashed potatoes, and grilled brussel sprouts. He also had hot dogs and S’mores for the children.

We sat in a large circle about three to four feet apart. It was such a fun evening to see the family. The little boys were so excited to see the older cousins, Noah and Davis. I made a sign for Andrew, (beside the card and the gifts), which I think came out really good.

He loved it. Can’t believe he is ten years old. Seems like he was a baby just yesterday.

The garden has started blooming. The birds are building their nests. I have several bird feeders in the back, and this morning when I went to fill the feeders, I saw that one of the feeders was converted into a shelter home. The picture doesn’t look clean because of all the seeds and grain that went into it all year(s) long. But I was amazed at how cleverly the tiny twigs were layered. I have other nesting condos for them, but they chose this one. I think it is cute.

I thought you would get a kick out of seeing this.

The cherry blossoms are going to town. The four trees are full of blooms. I love them so much. The petals are just perfect and almost transparent.

Also, the rhododendrons are beginning to show off. I love these blooms.

And finally the apple blossoms. Soon they will shed their petals, and the grass will be covered by them. Spring! what beauty it brings!

Have a great weekend.

I’m so glad to see this post — my great nephew turns 8 this month, and he’s bummed because he can’t have a birthday party. He doesn’t want a Zoom party, but mom is an event planner and has put her planning cap on to come up with some other ideas. I love the bird houses, and the flowers are spectacular! Stay safe — love and hugs

Thank you Janet. So many people are planning birthdays with such novel ideas. Earlier in the month, Noah the oldest grandson has his birthday, and the family and a few neighbors drove over to Saadia’s home stood around their yard and sang happy birthday. He was touched.
yes, the flowers and birds are doing their job to spread beauty,
Stay well and safe. Lots of love dear friend.

  3. If I had a garden, I would want you to design it for me. I love those cherry trees. The city here has fenced off 2 parks that have a lot of cherry trees so the people don’t visit them. One of the parks is closed off. I did go to one yesterday and while I couldn’t get close to the trees, I managed to get a few pics. I’ll post them soon.

Andrew is 10? Wow… that means I’m getting old. It seemed like just a few posts ago he was just a toddler.

I know, he is such a sweet young boy. Ten years old! So mature and very sweet.
Wanting me to design your garden is such a compliment to me Matt. You would be a great gardener and you hopefully will have a lot to do in the garden when you get one.. So happy that you were able to take some pictures of the cherry blossoms. Cant wait to see them.
Love and hugs to you dear heart. Stay safe and be well.

  6. Wow! I need to post more photos of the spring like you! It’s so uplifting!!!! I am so glad Andrew’s birthday party went well! I saw five police cars pull up at a graduation party in a parking lot today to tell the party to disperse. Thank goodness Andrew’s party was both happy and safe! Love also how clever the birds were in choosing a nesting place with food!!!!!!! Gratitude and blessings to you, Zakiah!!!!
