Some Recent Paintings

This is an addendum to my post above.. I received a mail from the director of the Art Club. It stated that “they loved my paintings, and thought that they were excellent.” But, yes there is a but! But none of them were selected by the Judge who was from another state. SO I brought my paintings home and hung the one of the bird in the nest in my drawing room. Looks quite good there, me thinks!

Just thought I would post a few of my paintings here. Not trying to brag or anything, just wanted to let you all know that I am keeping myself busy. I paint every night. Every single night!
Quincy is a small town, but it is a very eclectic and culturally sophisticated town. Every year there is a Juried Art Show, and the members of the local Arts Clubs and public are invited to submit their work. On a lark I had submitted two paintings last year in November. Just because! I knew very well that I was a nobody in the rich artistic membership of the town. However, I about dropped my dentures (J/K) when I received a letter that both my paintings were selected and will be viewed by the judge who came from another state.
So this year, I thought I would do the same. I know that…

I’m so sorry your paintings were not included in the juried show — but I’m sure the bird in the nest looks wonderful on your wall! I’d look at it like a job application — your paintings are wonderful, but just not what they were looking for ~ ~ it will be interesting to know what their choices look like!
    Love and hugs,

    That is a pretty painting.

  3. Sorry to hear that – I know you aren’t going to dwell on this. Keep on painting and display them here on WordPress!

Your paintings are visually stunning i love them..i love the bird and the California may have not made to the Jurors’ way but that doesnt mean they are bad. Sometimes judges have specifics and particulars that they are looking for. And a work of art such as your paintings and poetry is already a winner on its own the moment you finish it…

    Way to go !!!!

  5. I am sorry to read this, Zakiah. Please do not be discouraged ,your painting are beautiful.and inspiring.
    Love ❤

  6. Oh, I’m so shocked and so sorry to hear this, SweetZ! What’s wrong with those judges?!?!

I know you will NOT let this discourage you! You will keep painting AND sharing your beautiful art! You have a unique and lovely style!
    (((HUGS))) ❤ 🙂

Juried shows are like that – you never know what the judge will like. It doesn’t mean the paintings aren’t wonderful. I’ve entered things that have been rejected and then enter something else (not as good) in a different show and win an award. You just never know!

  8. I have to admit I’m surprised. I adore your paintings. I will say, though, I think it’s much like our karate tournaments…it totally depends on the judges and what they are looking for. hugs
