Hello Everybody

I am acutely aware that I have been AWOL for several weeks. The muse has taken leave because my days are so busy with seemingly unimportant things. Honestly, I don’t know when and where the day ends.

One thing I know, I am happy that flowers are blooming; the garden is just a chirping with so many birds, and, I have been painting…. a lot. As a peace offering, here are some flowers for your viewing pleasure and you may critique my work as a watercolor artist. I had an exhibition of my work at a local restaurant, where the paintings were displayed on the walls for the month of March. Sold a few! (I still cannot believe that!) Hannibal MO, is a beautiful little town on the other side of river Mississippi, and my paintings are displayed there in a gallery. I am just excited that people want me to be part of these exhibitions.

Andrew celebrates his seventh Birthday tomorrow. Took him to get some gifts. All he wanted was Pokรฉmon Cards!! Guess where we went to get them…. yup Walmart! Today,ย I was telling that to the young lady who does my pedicure, about taking Andrew to Walmart. She started laughing. Said, “Dr. Ali, I just cannot imagine you in Walmart!! ย ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway, here are some flowers. Last year I had planted aย Cherry Blossom tree in the back. IT BLOOMED!! OMG! I was on cloud nine!

The flowers felt like air. SO delicate and beautiful. Loved them.

The above is the crab apple. Pretty, no?

Crocuses, Hyacinths, Parrot tulips and Azaleas along with other different beautiful colored tulips and daffodils just made the garden blissful. How beautiful Spring is!

Here are some of my paintings from this past week.

Tulips, wet on wet.

Fog rolling in on the snow.

Did this from a photograph of Santa Maria Dell Salute in Venice.

And the above one is of some flowers, again, wet on wet.

Hope all of you are doing extremely well. And Carolyn, I hope you have heard good news from the biopsy. Have been thinking of you and praying for good results.
Love you all.

I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

OMG — your yard is gorgeous, Zakiah! So many beautiful flowers of different types and colors! And you are doing a great job of putting that beauty on paper! I love the first two paintings (flowers, and fog on snow!). I love the story about shopping in Walmart with Andrew — and the pedicurist’s reaction. I hope that Eunice and Dave are both doing well!

And, of course, happy birthday to Andrew — it’s hard to believe that he’s seven already!

  4. Good to see you back.
LOVE your photos and your watercolors. You have such a lovely yard.
    Happy Birthday to Andrew.
    love and hugs

  5. I’ve been thinking of you. Your garden is so beautiful especially the cherry tree. There are some cherry trees at the park in my neighbourhood. I should post some pictures of them. I’m really that others have recognized your artistic talent. I hope you’ll have many more exhibitions.

  7. Happy 7th Birthday to Prince Andrew! I hope he had a wonderful good-memory-making day!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I, too, love the blooming flowers and hearing the birds sing! Spring is so amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚
You have some lovely flowers and blossoms! The world is bursting with colors! ๐Ÿ™‚

OH! I always enjoy your paintings! Congrats on getting to share them, and on selling some! ๐Ÿ™‚

My oldest told me years and years ago that Walmart has no soul. He won’t shop there. And my youngest doesn’t like how Walmart treats their employees. So, I only shop there on rare occassion. And then I just don’t tell my kids I did! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you for your concern and prayers! That means so much to me! I just got the results on Thursday and posted about them.

My continued prayers for Eunice and for Dave!

I love the Venice painting, and wow, all your flowers are in lovely bloom! Our azalea bush is finally in full bloom right now, and we have a few lilacs on our tall bushes – but it’s sparse and sort of sad-looking.

And how wonderful that you’ve sold some paintings! ๐Ÿ˜€
