Birthday dinner.

I had a birthday on Wednesday! yes another one, if you can believe it. It was wonderful with the children and grandchildren around me. Sayeed and Shelley had the family over, and he cooked an AMAZING dinner of filet mignon and lobster tails, flown out from Main!
A friend actually Sayeed’s partner with Wealth Management, sent a bottle of Crystal Champagne for me which we drank after the dinner. Here are some photos of the evening.

Prior to the dinner, Saadi and I went to the Universe whereΒ three of my paintings were exhibited. She was so proud of me!! I was embarrassed I think.

It felt good to have them displayed. They will be there for one more week, and then I will bring them home.

I have never had such luscious and sweet lobster meet before! The potato casserole was made by Shelley, and it is to die for! The filet was just perfect! Yes, that’s my plate!!

And here pouring some out for me! The actual birthday was on Wednesday, but everyone was so busy the whole week, so we decide to meet on Friday.

It was the most beautiful birthday for me.

Noah has left for college for the second semester. I already miss him so much. I hope he has a wonderful semester, and when he is done with it, he would have the whole year under his belt!Β  Love him so much. I asked him if he wanted me to move to Rolla and rent an apartment so I could be near him; he laughed. I didn’t think it was a funny question! You know I would go live there in a heart beat!!

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

Thank you Elizabeth. The meal was amazing! My husband knows diddly about cooking . But our son has done wonders in that department. πŸ™‚

I’m delighted you had such a happy birthday celebration — birthdays do go on, even if we don’t want to acknowledge them, so it’s good that you celebrate in such fashion! I love the 3 paintings! You’re doing so well with the painting! Dinner looks magnificent (would Shelley share her recipe for the potato casserole?), and how nice to have champagne at the end! Much love and hugs!

    • Zakiah says:

Shelley would love to share that recipe. She had given it to me as a text message, I had made it a month or so ago, then I accidentally deleted that message. I have asked her to email it to me, and I will forward it to you.
I am truly enjoying painting. it relaxes me so much.
“Birthdays come and go, even if ——-” How true is that!! Janet, that champagne is one of the most exclusive of all the champagnes apparently! I wouldn’t know. But it felt like the sweetest nectar in my throat! Good thing I don’t drink. This was once in a decade deal for me!
Just got a text from Shelley. She has emailed the recipe, and I will forward it to you, as soon as I am done responding to the comments here.

Oh I did darling! One of the best. A friend from California sent me a rare Picasso print, and one of his own paintings which I will get framed today.

πŸ™‚ on moving to be near Noah! I totally understand! I would have done the same when my kids moved away to college! And would do the same for my grandkids some day! πŸ™‚ But…not sure they want ME that close! πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜›

    HUGS!!! πŸ™‚
PS…Hmm…now I’m wondering what is in that potato casserole!

    • Zakiah says:

You are right, about them wondering if I should be as close to them, more my daughter than my grandson.
Thank you for your sweet words about the paintings and the family. I so enjoy my time with them.
