In 1978, today…. my son Sayeed was born. I was hoping for him to be born on the 14th, then we would have birthdays of the four of us, on January 11th, September 12th, March 13th and December 14th. But Sayeed loves his sister too much, and decided to have the same date birthday.
I was the pathologist at the hospital, and was feeling some contractions all day while I was in the office. So I decided to go up to the fifth floor, have myself checked, come back downstairs and finish some more work. Finally the Czechoslovakian Obstetrician told me to go upstairs and get admitted. Mohamed was at the other hospital, and he was informed by the nurses that I had admitted myself.
Sayeed came a few hours later.
What a grand moment that was when I was told that I had a boy. Now I had the best of both the worlds. A beautiful daughter, and a handsome son.
Today he turns 38. here are a few pictures of him.
At age two, blowing out the candles.
Loved trucks— or anything with wheels! ALL THE TIME!
In grade three when he took part in the skip rope marathon. Guess who joined him!! I love this picture of him with me.
He has been the School Board President since 2015. This year was special because he not only delivered the commencement speech again, but he was there to see Noah Aschemann (Saadi’s son) graduate. Here he is speaking to the students and the audience, and in the next photo, hugging Noah as the graduates came up to the stage.
Such a special moment for all of us. I love this picture. And now he is 38 years old.
Just got back from his home after a lovely birthday dinner which Shelley had gone to so much trouble to make.
Happy Birthday Son.
Love that shot of you jumping rope with Sayeed 🙂 !
Thank you Janet. I just saw your comment on xanga too. Have been thinking of you a lot. Hope your trip to SB was good. I should be more free after this weekend. Shall write to you then. Love and hugs.
Happy Birthday to your son!
Thank you.
Oh wow – Happy Birthday to Sayeed! I hope you’re doing well. 🙂
Thanks Matt. We are all doing well. A little under the weather with a sore throat, thanks to Andrew and Zain. Sayeed had a good day.
I got a sore throat and a cold too. Ugh…
Gargling with hot water with a drop of eucalyptus oil does wonders.
I don’t have eucalyptus oil. I’ve been drinking a lot of liquids, taking some meds and also ginger and garlic with my meals.
You are doing the right things Matt. Add a little honey and one squeeze of lemon to your flluids. But see if your pharmacy can get you a bottle of eucalyptus oil. It is always good to have some on hand. If the throat doesn’t feel much better by morning, call your MD, and have him prescribe some antibiotics. Until then keep gargling with warm water and salt.
Happy Birthday to Sayeed!!! 🙂
I’m glad you got to make more special memories with him this year on his birthday!
(Someone who is special in my life shares a birthday with Sayeed! I find that to be cool! 🙂 )
HUGS!!! 🙂
Happy birthday to your special friend. Love and hugs.
Love the pictures
Thank you so much. Hope you got more of the Christmas things done and your husband was out of the house for sometime!!
Husband has been in the shop for days working on a toy box. He has been in a better mood since then. I got a few things done today. Mostly a lot of baking. Tomorrow I have two presents I have to finish.
Happy birthday to him! And I love that photo of the two of you jumping rope 🙂
Yes, that is my favorite photo too. Thank you.
That’s a great picture of you jumping rope. It must be great to see your kids be successful and know that you had a hand in it.
Such a nice comment. Thank you Dian. Sayeed has been very special. Just an amazing young man. But when he was littler, between the ages of three and seven or eight, i used pray that he would grow older so he won’t be that mischievous!!
I am very proud of my children the way they have matured into such fine young individuals.
Love all the pics but especially the one of you and your son jumping rope. Please send him my Birthday wishes. He is, indeed, very handsome still.
Thanks Elizabeth. I hope your life is being blessed with love and health and happiness.
