Noah Starts College.

My first prince Noah Started college yesterday. No words to say how emotional it was to let him go away. Even though it is only 3 hours away, the fact that he is not hovering around us, is disturbing to say the least. But, fortunately for the advances of technology and the phone system, Saadi and Dave have instant connection to him. He has texted me several times too. Saadi showed me these pictures of when Noah and his little gang of same age babies who used to have a baby date, 18 years ago, and what they look like now. Same babies!

First frame, Noah is third from right in the red romper suit. His expression is priceless… saying, “meh, I don’t care!”

In the second frame, he was almost rolling over the first baby on the left. Noah is second on the left.
I thought it was a cute picture of both times. All these kids have now gone to college or are on their way this week.  I have no idea why that black frame is showing up.IMG_3932

Have a good day.

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

Most frequently the kids get terribly homesick and often ask to quit school and come home. Resist. It goes away after the first semester when they have developed friendships and a social network. But it is hard to resist when you miss them so much. Tell Saadia.

So true Rush. When Saadi went to DC for her undergraduate studies, she was so anxious to leave this small town. Four days later, FOUR DAYS later she called to say she was extremely home sick and wanted to come back home. I feel bad now, but I told her, that it was her choice and she had to stay put. And do you know, she did just that, and graduated with high honors and Dean’s List in four years and returned home.

This is what you’ve all been training Noah for for some time now — he’s “made the team!” As the comment above says, if he gets homesick, you should encourage him to stick it out until at least the end of the semester he’s in (it sometimes happens in 2nd semester too), and see if it doesn’t go away. He’ll be able to come home for a weekend periodically, and for the holidays — it’s not as if he’s gone forever — he’s just growing up!

I am sure he will get homesick, but the technology is super special. He facetimes with us, and we call and text him every day. He is very busy he says, which is so good. I told him it is good to be busy, especially the first couple of weeks.
I think he may be returning home for the Labor Day Weekend, and then Thanksgiving is around the corner. By that time he should be doing quite well.

Cool pics from young to old

  7. Congrats to Noah! He will do great, with much success! 🙂
Cute babies who grew into beautiful 18 year olds! Love their recreation of their baby-poses! Made me laugh! 😀
    HUGS!!! 🙂
PS…it is so difficult to “let them use their wings”…but it is the best thing for them! And you and his parents will survive! 🙂

That’s a really funny and great idea. And how cool that these babies (now teens) are still sort of in touch.

    • Zakiah says:

Oh yes, they are all good friends to each other and have a lot of fun. Now they are all in different colleges. Each in a different time zone it seems.

  9. It’s striking to see the two lines, one with the babies and the second with them, 16 years later .
I’m sure Noah will do very well at the collège , like his parents and grands parents.
    Love ❤
