I have always enjoyed painting. Love to see beautiful art work. So now I am getting serious and decided that I should learn, actually learn, to paint from a gifted teacher.
There is this older lady, yes older than me if you can believe it, she is fantastic. She told me that she would teach me how to paint. Last Monday I went to her, and she and I painted a rose. Hers was so beautiful. Mine, meh! But every one at home thought it was pretty good.
Yesterday I went back again. She can teach me only on Mondays. So we painted a scenery. What I did with her I didn’t like at all. SO I came home and did it all over again. And this is what it looks like… half way decent.
Hopefully I will be able to paint better in the coming weeks.
That’s it for now.
About Zakiah
I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading.
That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5.
I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years.
Hope to see you on my blog.
Very pretty. Love the rose. The petals are almost see through.
Thank you.
Your welcome
Zakia! These are very good!
Watercolors, correct?
Yes, watercolor painting.
I can’t even draw stick figures. My mom enjoyed drawing and painting. It was one of her many skills.
Another parallel with your mom’s accomplishments, besides gardening. ❤ I cannot draw stick figures. That takes talent, me thinks!
Nicle done! You are talented!! My wife went to a water color artist long ago.
Oh thank you Frank. I have seen some of her paintings on xanga I think.
Lovely! You are doing well, Zakiah!
Love your choice of watercolor colors!
Keep at it!
HUGS!!! 🙂
Thanks girlie! Love you. ❤ ❤
Lovely paintings. If she is better than you, your teacher must be very talented!
Wow, what a terrific compliment! She is amazing and so talented. She is very patient with me.
The rose is very expressive .
A landscape is not easy to paint . About it, is it a landscape that you imagined or a real lansdscape ?
You are multitalented, Zakiah .
Love ❤
Michel
Dear Michel,
Thank you for the compliment. The landscape was a print out of a book or magazine I think, and the lady who is helping me, told me I had to paint that. Hope Janine is doing well with her arthritic pain.
Love,
Zakiah.
wonderful! keep up with the painting – these are lovely.
thank you John.
Wow—you are very talented. So glad you get to do this. Love to ya
No, I am not talented. I just have to try and copy something as close to the picture as I can. Love to you also Elizabeth. Hope things are improving for all of you.
They are very good 🙂
i used to do lots of this. water-colour paintings. i loved it. it was either this or playing with Lego. i never understood the lure of oil painting. i much prefer the subtle shades and effects of water-colour paints.
