few days back I was at the store and did some grocery shopping. At the register I had my cheque book out along with my pen. The clerk told me the total amount, and I started digging in my purse for my glasses. Yes I cheat! I have to have my reading glasses on to read and write. I couldn’t find the pair. So I backed up a little and strained to write the amount on the cheque. After I wrote the amount out, I gave the girl my cheque. I knew her as the baby sitter for Andrew and Zain, and told her I was sorry I took so long to write the cheque out, and that I was searching for my glasses. She said, “No problem Doctor; are your glasses different from the ones that you have on the top of your head?” I put my hand up and found my cheaters!
Yesterday I went to pick Andrew up from school. I took my keys out of the ignition and slid my middle finger through the key ring because I did not have a pocket in the slacks I was wearing. I had a book in my hand which I take inside the school because I like to continue the reading while waiting outside his class. I saw Andrew’s school bag and his lunch box on the shelf, so I grabbed them. A few minutes later he came out and we started walking towards the car. I realized that I had no keys on me, and knew I had probably left them on the shelf when I picked his lunch bag. His teacher was standing there and I told her that I was looking for the keys. We couldn’t find them. Then I noticed the dang key chain dangling from my finger! The teacher patted my back and said, “don’t worry doc, we all have the same types of problems many times!” And she is about 30 years old!!
Oh boy!
A friend’s husband works for a firm that makes wheels for large 18 wheeler trucks. Some of the wheels are discarded because either they are surplus or are not of proper size. Each of them is about 54 inches in diameter. They brought two such wheels for me. One of them I have in the front yard with flowers, and the other I have in my backyard with vegetables in them. Here are the pictures.
Eggplant, tomato, green chili, and okra.
Dahlias, daisies, columbine, Mexican heather and waving petunias.
I love this shade of Columbine.
Does anyone know what this flower is? I thought the plant was a weed. I don’t get rid of some weeds. This year it is full of blooms like these.
I am not sure it has a fragrance. My nose is kind of stopped up a little. The humidity is so bad today.
The flower looks like honeysuckle to me. I like your garden wheels!
Yes, those”senior moments” can be embarrassing. Sometimes, I find that I am wearing one pair of glasses and another pair is on my head. Sigh…
I have done that too, but the ones on my head are the sunglasses usually, and I use the readers hung by the shirt collar or neck. This thing was really too embarrassing!;)
Dian I am trying to get to your posts, but I cannot do so when I click on your id. Wonder what I have to do. I don’t see the “follow” prompt either.
You had me laughing out loud!!! I’ve been “losing” credit cards recently — one I cancelled and had reissued, but am sure it’s in my house or my car somewhere, and the other I found in my wallet! That flower is honeysuckle.
Oh really! ? Honeysuckle?? 🙂 🙂 I am so happy I asked and you knew the answer Janet. It reminded me of a wild jasmine. I wonder how it got in my garden. I love it.
Yeah, I am quite embarrassed with the week this far! The episode with the glasses was just too unbelievable! 😉 😉
Oh, I’ve done that several times – spent time looking for my glasses, only to find them on the top of my head. Thankfully I wear mine most of the time – if I don’t put them down, I don’t lose them. 😀
Oh, and once I spent several minutes panicking because I couldn’t find it – where was it?? Oh. In my hand. Well, at least I hadn’t lost it. 🙂
Things like this happen to me at home, and when I find what I am looking for, then I just scold myself and go on my way. But out in the store and in an elementary school, was too much of an embarrassment. 🙂
These all sound like things I would do. I’m not sure if that should comfort you!
54″ is a wonderful size for gardening! Very inventive. Is the purple flower the columbine? That is really striking!
I am loving the 54 inch raised beds of flowers and vegetables. Yes, the purple flower in the middle is the Columbine.
You are too young to know what I am going through these days with forgetfulness. 🙂 😉
Love your planters
Thank you.
Your welcome
I can’t find my sunglasses… really. I don’t have a clue where they are. The other day, I couldn’t see clearly when I was showering. I still had my reading glasses on.
Those tire planters are interesting. My mom used barrels cut in half and the plants seem to love these planters. I think it’s easier for the soil to stay warm and maybe with it raised, there are less slugs to worry about.
Did you look between the cushions in your couch, or in the back of the lazy-boy recliner? I have found many lost items in those places.
I have seen the cut barrels in a lot of homes. I have a mini fish tank that I filled with top soil and have flowers in it in my front yard. It will be interesting to see how the wheels do through the summer.
I found the glasses in my car. I almost left the remote controller (for the tv) in my fridge once. And another time, I took home J’s remote controller when I visited his house.
OMG! That’s funny about the remotes! I am glad you found your glasses though. Have a great week Matt.
LOL–the glasses thing might not be so funny if I hadn’t done the same thing–
LOVE the tires for flowers. They are all lovely.
Hugs and love
Thank you Elizabeth. They are not tires as such, but the rims of the steel wheels. Hugs and love to you. Hope you had a good and blessed Day today.
I am sitting here laughing after looking for my glasses all over the apt and finding them right where they were supposed to be on top of my head.
Love your garden and the wheel gardens. Also love the color of the columbine.
Ruth
Ha ha Ruth, now you know how I felt. Thank you for the compliment about my garden. You know I just love my flowers. Hope you both and Ali are doing very well. Happy Mother’s Day to you .
Honeysuckle! When you get unstuffed sniff it for me! 🙂 Unless sniffing it will stuff you up again. Then don’t sniff it. I don’t want you stuffed up!
Love your planters and plants! I love everything you are growing! 🙂
Ha! on the glasses! 😛 Just think the joy you are giving everyone who helps you find your glasses and keys! 😉 😀 Just so you haven’t misplaced your car! 😮 😀
I just got reading glasses a few years ago (1.25 strength). I have a pair in almost every room of the house and two in my purse. Ha! So I can always find one of them. They are not prescription ones…just the cheap-kind from the store.
Oh the joys of becoming well-seasoned! (I say “well-seasoned”…I refuse to say “older”! 😉 😀 )
HUGS!!! 🙂
Yes, Honeysuckle. That’s what Janet said above. I am happy it’s not just an ordinary weed! I am sure it smells good. My nose is fine now, but it has been raining, and you know, you really cannot sniff any thing fragrant about the flowers when they are drenched with rain.
Happy Mother’s Day to you Carolyn. Hope you had a great day. ❤
Oh how interesting, I like the idea of using the huge 18-wheeler wheels as planters! 😀
And the columbine is really pretty!
Thank you Marica. I was impressed with the Columbine too.
Happy Mother’s Day weekend to you, and all the moms you know!
🙂
HUGS and ❤ !!! 🙂
Hope you had a great day too. I had a good one. Brunch in Sayeed’s home, the whole family was there. It was lovely.
Hope those flowers attract some hummingbirds!!!!! Everyone has senior moments time to time, even people who aren’t seniors. Our brains like to take days off on us, some more than others. Have a happy Mother’s Day!
OH yes, my dear God, please bring back the humming birds. I am so anxious to see them. Thank you for this sweet comment Ann.
I liked your misadventures , zakiah , You have an elegant way to relate them 🙂
With the wheel you made nice flowerbeds .
I wish you a happy Mothers ‘Day
Love ❤
Michel
Thank you Dear Michel. I hope Janine had a marvelous day too.
Love, Zakiah.
Zakiah, Mothers’Day in France is on the fourth Sunday of May ! 🙂
Haha those moments are so funny. Hope it didn’t worry you or anything like that. Maybe you have a lot on your mind?
