Constellations and Winter Planets.

Constellations and winter planets. ( Scavnger Hunt # 5)

Paper boats in the day
sparklers at night
hugs and kisses, sweet memories…
each like a star in the sky.

Hugs that felt warm
smiles that charmed, tender in the cocoon of my breast
some twinkling stars, others just lying around
like winter planets, treasured, untouchable.

And when the stars cry and the ground turns white
with their tears, I reach into my treasure chest
and gather them around my soul; not an overwhelming
presence for others,

but my own constellations nevertheless!

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

I LOVE the idea of the ground turning white when the stars cry! May your constellations wrap you and keep you warm

Thank you Janet. We have had some snow, nothing like what the East coast got. I always think of reasons why things happen, and the snow at night, makes me feel that the stars cried all night long. Silly me!

  3. Your word-paintings are vivid in my mind, SweetZ.! And you have gotten my senses (I can see the stars and feel the hugs and kisses!) and my emotions involved! I love it when such beautiful writing brings tears to my eyes! Love the image of us having our own personal constellations! πŸ™‚

You know, Leah is such a wonderful writer, and her scavenger hunt challenges make me dizzy. I have to give a lot of thought to her challenges and compose and retract many words and phrases. I love doing these challenges for her. πŸ™‚
Thank you for always being so good with your words, encouraging me and wishing me. You are just too kind. ❀ ❀

  4. Oh this is really nice and touching. Those paper boats – it reminds me of another poem of yours about simpler, childhood memories.

You have such a good memory Matt. I did write about Paper Boats and had posted about childhood memories on my xanga blog. That is one of my favourite poems.
