Letter to the Editor of local News Paper.

This letter was published in the paper yesterday.

To The Editor

Herald Whig, Quincy IL.

In the aftermath of the Paris, and Beirut, massacre, and at the persuasion of some friends, I am writing this letter to project my feelings to the community here.

There is so much hatred for Islam and Muslims in this country. People do not understand that the very word Islam, denotes submission. Out of the 1.6 billion or more Muslims, some misguided people, who do not represent Islam, take it upon themselves to create their own cells of hate. These so called Muslims, do not know a word of the Quran it seems. Nowhere in the Book does it say to kill an innocent person. In fact, killing of an innocent, unarmed person, is same as killing the entire mankind. Even in a war, it is decreed that a Muslim CANNOT kill a woman, a child or destroy trees or crops. These murderers call their “Cry of Faith” as Islamic State. Really and truly, there is nothing Islamic about their behavior.
People in the media have provided a ‘cut and paste’ formula of the various passages from The Quran, stating that It says to kill the infidels. But these people have not read the entire passages of explanations given. The media takes one verse out of context and elaborates on the killing of the infidels. And let me tell you another thing. Christians and Jews are not Infidels according to God’s Words. They are people of the Book. They believe in One God. The Infidels quoted in The Quran, were the idol worshippers who did not believe in the Oneness of God, period. The message in The Holy Book, is to inform and warn, and not to be belligerent towards others. Muslims according to a Hadith, (sayings of the prophet), cannot use the tongue to talk ill about others, or use their hands to hurt others who are innocent.
So for these ISIS men and women who want to kill at random, there has to be a hell waiting for them. They have not only killed Christians and Jews, they have also killed Muslims! They are a sick and deranged set of rabid animals, who have taken a simple and beautiful religion, as hostage!

There is a hadith that says, “Kindness is a mark of faith; and whoever is not kind, has no faith”.

Ty for sharing this and I hope that there will be a difference made. This world is such a sad place.

    Thank you for sharing

  3. Well said, my friend. We can not group all Muslims together as all being alike any more than we can group all Christians or Jews together as being alike. Aside from that..We can not take any of what is written (be it the Quran, the Bible, The Book of Mormons, etc. ) out of context.

    • Zakiah says:

That’s the whole problem it seems Elizabeth, taking the words out of context as in “cut and paste”, and the media goes haywire with that, and promotes fear and hatred. Thank you for your comment.

An excellent letter, Zakiah, which clarifies many of the contradictions we have heard over the last few months. I hope that many read it and take it to heart as we stand up to those who choose to attack for no good reason! Thank you for sharing it here. HUGS!!!

Thank you dear Janet. I got a lot of phone calls and responses to this letter and each one of them was similar in message to your comment. I am very happy about that. I talked at the Unitarian Church yesterday, to a group of about 100 people, and I personally think it went very, very well. The message was received with great sincerity, and I honestly felt great connection. Love and hugs.

I have been thinking of you all week, and hoping for a good response to this letter and to your meeting. The Unitarians are a good group to help project a message of world peace, and I’m glad you had a good group. The day after I wrote my comment above, we had an incident in San Bernardino, our “Inland Empire,” and an incident in London since then. I found myself, in shock, thinking back to many incidents of the past. The mantra here is now “if you see something, say something,” and I think we all need to heed that warning. I am anxious to hear what the President has to say this evening, and interested to see where we go from here. I am glad you spoke up — keep doing so, as that is what will help. HUGS!!

  5. EXCELLENT! I wish your letter could be shared around the globe!

All religions have that small group of people (percentage-wise) who do horrifying things in “the name of God” that hurt and kill innocents. 😦 No religion is exempt from this behavior. I find that so VERY sad. 😦

Thank you for being a good example of a strong religious person who is living out her faith in love!

  6. Thanks for sharing and a great letter. I hope it will help change the minds of people who read it.

Entre chrétiens et musulmans, nous sommes frères et nous devons nous comporter comme tels.
Tweet of the Pope Françis ; Between Christians and Muslims we are brothers and our behavior has to be such.
    Love ❤

Isn’t that the truth? We are from one male and one female—- all mankind. We are brothers and sisters of the same family of humanity.
      Love, dear Michel,

  8. rudyhou says:

the muslims i know are against ISIS. there is a need for people to understand that ISIS in NOT a true muslim. a true religion doesn’t promote the killing of innocent lives. PERIOD.

    • Zakiah says:

How true! In Islam, killing an innocent person is like killing the entire mankind. These people kill and mutilate in the name of Islam. They do not belong to my faith. Period.

  9. Well said, my friend. I hope others will read it, take heed and change their way of looking at others, esp Muslims. Love and hugs.

  10. christao408 says:

    As always, elegantly written.

  11. It’s a beautiful letter.

I’m not sure what happened but I couldn’t figure out why none of your entries were showing up. Somehow your blog got unfollowed / unsubscribed. It’s happened with a couple of other blogs.
