A baby comforter

A few weeks back I had told you about Sarah and her baby shower etc. Well I made a comforter for her and finished it today. Will mail it to her tomorrow. IMG_4973 IMG_4974 IMG_4975 IMG_4976 IMG_4977 IMG_4978 IMG_4979 IMG_4980 IMG_4981 IMG_4982

Because the fabric is satin, the light is reflecting off of it in a weird way, and I couldn’t capture the entire comforter as I would have liked. Therefore, I am showing each motif separately.

I have been under the weather; the summer cold and cough! The cough is horrible. I just bark like a dog! Today, I am going to take some heavy duty cough suppressant and hopefully will be able to sleep most of the night.

Take care and have good week.

I love the quilt and its many motifs — and I’m sure Sarah will also love it!
I hope you haven’t caught the dreadful 6-weeks cough that I had a couple of months ago — it’s a nasty one, and everybody who’s had it says that it lasted 4-6 weeks! Hugs!!!

I hope Sarah likes the comforter, and I hope the baby will like the feel of it. I am beginning to feel so much better. Have been taking some Tussionex cough suppressant at night, which is helping me to sleep and not have the barking cough. Over all, the cough is improving; I am just upset that the little princes are not able to come here, and hug me. I hope I can do that tomorrow.

those are very nicely done. you got skill, zakiah. hope you feel better soon. i did hear the weather there can be a bit unstable. a friend recently visited chicago from texas, and he got sick because he was outdoor for many hours while the weather got cold. and he didn’t bring a single jacket as he was expecting a warm summer. i’m guessing this is typical in the state of illinois?

Rudy, the weather has been horrible. It rains about six to eight hours every day, the temperature continues to be hot and humid. The only good thing, I hear the rumble of thunder. I love that. I wish the temperature would drop down and make it comfortable.
heh heh , not sure if I have “skills” Rudy, it is just something i wanted to do for a beautiful person.

  4. Oh my gosh! This is so beautiful and cute, SweetZ! And it looks so silky and soft and comforting! The baby will love it for years and years! I can envision Sarah telling the baby stories about the little characters as they look at them and touch them! 🙂

Hope and pray you feel better soon!

  5. I am proud to say I found before reading the fabric was satin .
The motifs pictured separately reveal all their delicateness and the work they asked ..
    Love ❤

That’s adorable. Satin is soft and cool, so nice for warm weather. What a great gift!

Sending prayers and good vibes for that cough and this comforter is absolutely adorable.

  8. The comforter looks very nice. I have some memories of the comforter I had. I think it had similar animal patterns.

I’m worried that you haven’t shaken that cold / cough yet. Maybe you should get it checked again. I hope you get better soon.

I am feeling so much better Matt. I am sick of not feeling good. I want to hold Andrew and Zain to my heart. I know Shelley feels bad that I got this crud from Andrew when he came to sleep with me. I don’t think that is true though. Just a bad bug going around.
You think your mom saved your comforter for you? You might check in the attic. It would be wonderful to have some thing as a keepsake. Chinese embroidery is so excellent. and so neat. I can just see how good your comforter was.

  9. A beautiful comforter. You did a great job.

    Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Oh wow, I really really like it! I am sure it will be cherished for many years, and maybe many generations 🙂 The elephant is my favorite 😀

I hope you’re feeling better now.

    • Zakiah says:

Oh Marica, what a sweet and genuine comment! Thank you. I too liked the elephant a lot. I put a little pink in its cheeks, so that if their next baby is a girl, then she can still feel that she had a pink in her comforter. Or, she could change the blue edging with a pink ribbon, no?
