Are We Human Enough?

The Hitler of yore is still alive today. Have they cloned
that murderous trait? Beheadings, killings
of Muslims by Muslims~~ and now the genocide!

Buddhists, touted as gentle peace loving people
who refrain from killing even animals, have
taken that simplicity of the great Buddha, and
converted the “holy spirit of monks” into Hitlerism.

Murders, burning of bodies, rapes
of women with and without pregnancy,
and mutilation of unborn babies!

This century of genocide and ugliness
vying for historical headlines, relates the gory details
of the power of Buddhist monks,
who hide the blackness of their souls
in the folds of the so called “pure” saffron wraps!

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

Indeed. Keep the faith, Dr.Z. The Light gets bright, means the dark gets darker, more desperate. Namaste’.

so true and so sad. Where has humanity gone and where have the caring hearts gone. Where they were once warm and glowing many are now dark and cold.

  3. I understand the emotions you expressed so well here, SweetZ! 😦
I can’t figure out why human beings don’t see that we are all more alike than we are different…and we feel the same emotions, have the same fears, want the same things, etc. For example: we all want our children and grandchildren to be happy and healthy.
So…Why can’t we ban together to make the world a better, safer place?!
I guess a small few always has to wreck things for the large whole. 😦

  4. I checked the link you give Zakiah and I alm in shock.
When will the reign of love come between human beings ? and a peaceful life on earth ?

  5. I wasn’t able to get to the link but I think I know the stories you are referencing. It’s sad. It’s warped that people just can turn religion into something depraved.

  6. I too was shocked to read about the genocides in so-called Buddhist countries! Your poem describes it so well!

it is very sad, isn’t it? that the world we live in is turning around to the darker side. to think in this day and age we have surpass the dark ages. guess we all still have so much work to do . sigh… 😦
