About Zakiah
I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading.
That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5.
I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years.
Hope to see you on my blog.
I can’t wait for the flowers to bloom here. Maybe a few more weeks.
I hope the flowers bloom soon for you Matt. I know how much you enjoy them.
That is simply beautiful like an artist.
Thanks Frank.
Very pretty. No flowers are blooming yet in my garden. I am ready
Really? And I live further east from you by about four or five hours, in Illinois. Well I hope they pop up soon.
How lovely, Zakiah! Our green has now turned brown, and flowers are pretty much out of the question this year.
I hate to hear that Janet. Frank on xanga was saying that there was ‘some rain’ there today. I praying for continuous rain for a week or more for you guys.
Santa Barbara had anywhere from 0.10 to 0.75 inch of rain yesterday, depending on where you were. The lake had about 0.21 inch, and the higher amount was on the mountain top behind town. The ground is so dry that that little water simply soaks in as it lands. The next predicted rain is at the end of the month, and that’s after the season normally ends, so it will be another sprinkle. I’ll post a few photos when I settle back in!
Oh! Your flowers are so beautiful! I love all of these!!! 🙂
I’m so excited that it is finally Spring, I wet my plants!!! 😀
I wrote a poem about crocuses once!
HUGS!!! 🙂
I have loved crocuses since I was a child. never knew what they looked like, but I had read about them in a British Woman’s Journal. it was a love story, and I don’t remember much about the story, but the end had the lovers looking fondly at the crocuses blooming while there was still snow on the ground. I have a lot of crocuses growing in the yard.
Thank you for your kind words of praise. 🙂 ❤ ❤
They are beautiful. Flowers are just starting to bloom here.
Thank you Eden.
Springtime in Quincy is beautiful!
It definitely is beautiful here in Quincy Chris. The trees are lined with Magnolia, Dogwood, flowering Bradford Pear and Red Bud trees. Quincy looks like an Indian bride, decked with flowers. Thank you for stopping over to look at my yard.
Of course! My pleasure.
These are wonderful; no wonder they give you joy, Dr. Z. (& thank you for reminding me to take my camera out to the desert bird garden.)
oooh! I want to see those pictures!
my flowers give me a lot of joy Kim, and I cannot wait for winter to be over and spring and summer to come every year. 😉
Oh how beautiful. What peaceful, serene place your garden is.
It is Ruthie, thank you! I think you would love it here. Wish you could come.
