Cyndi Rymer is a past xangan with whom I have been in touch. She was known as story slut on xanga, and thrilled me with her posts about her nephew Puck.
Cyndi is trying to get a platform of writers and bloggers, of not just good writing , but photographs, poetry, recipes, jokes food porn and what have you. Since my return from Florida, I have contributed to her address. It would be wonderful if all of you who read this, (regardless of having known her in the past or not), would subscribe to her blog and write there. This is a free platform, and I honestly think that if we all could write as her guest bloggers, she can get things moving, and may be we will have another xanga like community.

I have suggested this to Cyndi, and she is very excited that people might consider this. SO please contact her at cyndi.tahoe@att.net.
I have taken Cyndi’s permission to post her blog about BALANCE here.. Thank you for reading this.
A sense of humor and a sense of balance.
Those are two things that I try to maintain in my life.
The sense of humor is pretty easy for me because there is so much absurdity in this world and a lot of things make me laugh. Too bad it sometimes happens at inappropriate moments but humor helps me to get through the sad parts of life too.
Maintaining balance takes a little more work.
A whole person is comprised of body, mind and spirit and so it is necessary to exercise and nourish all three components of the self. At a certain dark time in my life I was neglecting all three. Where there is balance there is a greater chance of happiness.
That doesn’t mean you have to be a church going, vegan, Fulbright Scholar who works out at a gym every day, (not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
You can find the things that work for you and the balance that is right for you. If your job is very cerebral then taking a walk out in nature after work might help towards the goal of achieving balance in life.
There are many ways to involve spirit, like appreciation of nature. Some others include worship, volunteering, helping a friend, spending time with family, being kind to a stranger, adopting a stray, praying, meditating, etc. You can also build your courage by doing something outside of your comfort zone.
For the body we just need to eat real food (does not include Twinkies) and get up and move, however and wherever it is enjoyable. We are blessed in Lake Tahoe, to live in a beautiful place where we can exercise our bodies and be enveloped by the glory of nature at the same time.
For our mind we can take a class, take on a new challenge at work, learn another language and yes read books. Even video games might count as long as they are not violent, have some educational or brain training value and do not become an obsession. Then balance is lost. That could be a tough one.
I have just mentioned a few examples here, What you do and when you do it throughout each day/week/month/year is your choice, but the goal is to create a balanced self.
And remember to laugh EVERY DAY. That shouldn’t be hard.

Sounds interesting.
Dr. Z, I like/love this idea, too. Does she have a blog up and running, now, that we can go look at, or do we have to contact her personally, first?
She does not have a blog as such; she is promoting this through her email and has other guests that write on it, and she kind of circulates the posts on facebook or other platforms. It is really neat. Please get in touch with her at her email address. cyndi.tahoe@att.net. She would love to hear from you.
I didn’t know her on Xanga.
So does she have a WordPress site that we can go to and check out?!
HUGS!!! 🙂
I don’t know if she has a WP site. She would love to hear from you Carolyn. I have talked to her about you. her email address is cyndi.tahoe@att.net. She will explain it to you better than I can.
Sounds interesting. I remember seeing her on Xanga.
