Saw this owl sitting in a yard this morning. He was undaunted by us stopping to take a picture. But after a minute or so, he flew onto a branch, and viewed us somewhat suspiciously. We looked at the ground, and he had a little bunny that he had been holding in its claws. I think he got perturbed that we were not moving fast enough on our walk, and wanted to see if he could watch us from the tree branch to see if we would snatch his prey away from him.

About Zakiah
I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading.
That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5.
I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years.
Hope to see you on my blog.
My wife hates the idea of predators eating cute little things. lol I love this photo—you were really lucky
Ooh! Ooh!
Or should I say, “Who-o-o Who-o-o!” 😛
How wonderful to see an owl! I love seeing them in the Summer and listening to them talk!
Poor bunny! 😯
But, all the creatures gotta’ eat.
HUGS!!! 🙂
It was a majestic looking owl. He was not at all disturbed by us. He continued to stare at us, hoping that we would leave. But we stared him down. Zakiah pumping arm!!
Ha! You go, girl! 🙂
Owls are among my favorites. Great shot.
Thank you. When he flew over to the tree branch, the wings flapped so loud. it was truly beautiful.
Good picture, i rarely see owls. 🙂
I don’t either Judith, so it was especially good for me and my friend.
owls just always seem so majestic.
This one sure was ! And the way it stared at us, my friend Peg asked, “is this a real one or a statue?” But I had seen it turn its head somewhat, so I knew it was the real McCoy!
I like owls. Great picture 🙂
I think I knew that you would like owls. Smart creatures! I took a quiz just now about what my inner spirit animal is, and after I answered all the questions, I got the answer that I am an Eagle! Eden, I cannot tell you how accurately that described me, my personality and my goals. I was amazed.
to me, an owl is probably the most interesting looking from all of the birds in the world. their behavior and gaze seem so friendly yet curious at the same time. it gives them an air of witchery and perhaps, a loner.
