REFLECTIONS

What ecstasy is this I feel
Every time you look at me?
I hold you in my thoughts
Offering to you my youth
As I unbind your tresses.
Smiling moonlight
Touching your lips
Sweet and heavy with my name!

My heart beats your name all day and all night
My thoughts weakened by desire
Hold your face in my eyes,
And when you touch me and whisper my name
I hear the gentle murmur of the stream
Singing to me, soothing my passion
Telling me, you own me!

 If I could be greedy
I would ask for more
The sky with all its stars
The earth with its endless riches!
But a tiny corner of this earth
 Is all I want.

 Could you come?
And live your life with me?

About Zakiah

I write poetry and some fiction, have a book that was published in 2012. . . Stray Thoughts/Winged Words. I have four grandchildren, ages 16 and half to almost 16 months. I love the ocean, and grew up along the Indian Ocean in South India. I am a retired physician. Don't know much else to say. Thanks for reading. That has been my profile for so many years. My daughter Saadia a great poet and story teller, has two sons; the oldest grandson is now 21 years old, doing architectural engineering at Missouri S&T in Rolla MO. His younger brother is almost 16 and taking driving lessons seriously and is in High School. The other two grandsons, children of my son Sayeed, are 9 and 5. I have recently published another book titled Gulistan, A home of Flowers. It has stories and memories of my childhood and of a distant land which I still consider as my HOME., even though I have lived here in the US for more than fifty years. Hope to see you on my blog.

Thank you Jeff. After I saw your comment on Xanga I had to go to the mosque for Friday services. Just got home and I am happy to see that you have commented here. That is encouraging.
I see that Matt (elusivewords) has also commented. I need to figure out how to have the poem on the same page and see the comments.
      Again, thank you Jeff.

  2. I really like the ending of this poem. (this is Matt)

  3. Hey! This is Carolyn…we’ve been dialoging on Xanga about WordPress…Ha. 🙂 If you click on people’s “names” in your comment section it SHOULD take you right to their site…unless their site is on “private”. I don’t know a lot here yet…but I am learning and happy to share what I know. Like I said on Xanga…the “Help and Support” page here on WP has helped me a lot! 🙂
    HUGS!!! 🙂

  4. OH! I forgot to say…I love reading your poetry! 🙂 This poem is beautiful and romantic! 🙂
